The event began with a photo session with Emanon O’Rourke – Manchester City Council, Diane Modahl – Founder DMSF, Andy Lord - Managing Director The ReThink Group (sponsors of the event) and Derek Redmond – Olympian, and some of our next generation of future stars.  

Over 100 people from the business and sporting communities in Manchester attended for a drinks reception and networking and to hear Derek speak about his time as  one of Britain’s greatest ever 400m Olympic athletes. He certainly kept us entertained, amused and on the edge of our seats regaling us with tales of his struggles to compete internationally and the creation of the gold medal winning formula in the 1991 World Athletics Championships 4 x 400m Race.  His speech really inspired the audience to think about their personal and professional challenges and to keep focused on what you want to achieve.  He spoke about the inevitable set backs but with determination, clarity of vision and a hint of stubbornness you can achieve your goals.

The evening raised over £1500 which will be used directly by the Diane Modahl Sports Foundation to make a difference to young athletes.
